10.07.97 :: "A Very Special Christmas 3" is released featuring a Dave & Tim live performance of "Christmas Song".

10.18-19.97 :: DMB performs at the Bridge School Benefit in San Fransisco, CA.

June 1997 :: Crash is certified 3x Platinum.

 

June 1997 :: Leave Me Praying is played frequently as a first encore song - eventually becomes Don't Drink The Water.

1.14.97 :: For the 2nd straight winter, Dave & Tim lauch an acoustic tour playing to sold out theatres and college auditoriums.

 

 

Jan 1997 :: Two Step is released as the 4th single from Crash.

11.17.97 :: Greg Howard is confirmed as a guest on the upcoming studio album.

March 1997 :: Tripping Billies is released as the 5th single from Crash.

 

June 1997 :: Bela Fleck joins DMB on stange during several mid June shows.

1997 was the shortest touring year in the band's history. Dave was on the road for less than 3 months. Just over a month each with Tim and the Band.

4.29.96 :: DMB kicks off the Summer tour headlining sold-out amphitheatres accross the country.

9.18.97 :: It is announced that Tim Reynolds will be joining DMB in the studio for the upcoming album.

 

6.09.97 :: DMB performs on the Late Show with David Letterman. (#41)

12.05.97 :: DMB opens for the Rolling Stones.

12.12.97 :: Dave Matthews guests with the Rolling Stones on "Wild Horses".

10.27.97 :: "Live at Red Rocks 8/15/95" is released, the band's first official live album.

12.11.97 :: Carter Beauford meets up with old friends Keith Horne, Butch Taylor and Mike Durham (members of his former band, "Secrets"), took part in a music seminar at the Kroger Center in Richmond, VA.

 

 

 

 

Nov 1997 - 12.15.97:: DMB enters The Plant Studios in Sausalito, CA to begin recording for an upcoming album.

Dec. 1997 :: Live at Red Rocks is certified Platinum.

11.25.97 :: Scream 2 Soundtrack is released featuring "Help Myself" recorded during the 1995 "Crash Sessions".

4.16.97 :: Dave Matthews appears on "Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher".

 

April 1997 :: DMB films a music video for #41. It is never realeased.

6.03.97 :: DMB opens the Summer Tour in Richmond, VA for what is the shortest full band touring year in the band's history.

9.04.97 :: DMB is nominated for 2 MTV Video Music Awards for Best Rock Video and Best Group Video (Crash Into Me).

Jan 1997 :: DMB is nominated for an American Music Award for Favorite Pop/Rock Band/Duo/Group.

April 1997 :: RCA purchases the rights for the Remember Two Things and Recently previously owned by Bama Rags Records.
